IE7 Security Update leads to problems

Posted on 20th may 2007
ie7

Users of IE7 can get problems opening their browser after applying a new security update. Microsoft reports the problem mainly affects Internet Explorer 7 running on a Vista machine, where the user has changed the location of the Temporary Internet Files folder.

After the update has been applied and the user starts Internet Explorer he’s presented with File Download – Security Warning dialog box, asking to save the file: ”navcancl”. After this the user is unable to open Internet Explorer. According to Microsoft, this is caused by insufficient rights for the moved Temporary Internet Files folder. It’s recommended to move the folder back to its original location. Another solution is to set the rights for the moved folder to “Full Control Allow”
